WHAT WE LIKED ABOUT THE FLAVIA FUSION

We have to say, there is a lot to like about the Flavia Fusion coffee and drink maker. From an ascetics standpoint, the design doesn't look like your typical coffee machine. It has a modern look to it that actually looks quite nice in the kitchen. It's not too wide at all, but a bit tall. It may not fit under some cabinets. That's one drawback of having the adjustable height feature, although that feature is very handy for travel mugs.

We know, coffee isn't about how nice the machine looks. The real question is, how do the drinks taste? The coffees and teas are definitely winners. The flavors were bold. I sometimes forgot that I wasn't drinking a fancy $4 Cup of Joe.

Where this machine was lacking was it's ability to make strong espressos. The flavors weren't deep enough to make any espresso based drinks, except for lattes. The espresso the produced tasted more like a steaming cup of coffee, simply not rich enough to be called espresso. In their defense, I've had espresso from some coffee shops that tasted like a steaming cup of coffee. It's just not a simple drink to make.

Other features that were high on our list were the large water reservoir and the built in water filter. Both of these features show that the Flavia Fusion paid some good attention to smaller details. The controls were very user friendly. Setup, brewing and clean up was seriously a breeze. I timed how long it took to make a latte, 45 seconds from start to end, cleanup included! That's fast!

WHAT WE DIDN'T LIKE

There wasn't too much we didn't like about this unit other than the weak espresso based drinks. Lattes were good, cappuccinos were weak.

At about 50 cents per filter pack, the price is OK. Still a lot cheaper than buying a drink from a coffee shop or even McDonald's, and you save on time and gas. Amazon sells it for the best price we've seen online. Amazon readers gave this model 4.5 out of 5 stars!

I believe it uses the same packets. I had a very old one before and I just upgraded to this new one. The packets I had before still work on the new one.
